Google+ Local combines local search with social media

Yesterday, without prior notice, a new feature of the social network Google+ was introduced: Google+ Local.

It is intended to make it particularly easy to find well-rated restaurants and shops in a particular location.

What is Google+ Local?
The feature is designed to help people "easily discover and share relevant local information ," according to the official Google product blog . It uses Google+ profiles, reviews from Google Places and Google Maps. A rating scale from the restaurant guide Zagat, which was bought by the search engine giant last year, is also displayed.

And what is social media about that ?
When it comes to a restaurant, a café, a bar, a museum or a nightclub, we are most likely to trust our friends and ask them for advice. Google+ Local transfers this fact into the digital world. Personal recommendations and experiences from Google+ users who are friends are given priority. And users who are friends also find out immediately if you have left a review yourself.
