When April 2023 arrived, a curious fact was hidden in the DREI – National Department of Business Registration and Integration – Business Map. According to the update made on 4/13/23, there were 71 limited partnerships by shares and 50 simple limited partnerships registered in Brazil. We are students passionate about Business Law and, thus, haunted by curiosities that can even be labeled as morbid, that is, unhealthy. After all, who cares about limited partnerships anymore?
Isn't it a symptom of a disease to pay attention to these meager sms gateway brunei numbers? Added together, there are 121 corporations, while limited partnerships total 6,142,954; in other words: the number of limited partnerships (contractual and statutory) corresponds to approximately 0.002 of the number of limited partnerships. Because we suffer, with pleasure, from this disease that is the passion for Business Law. We are one of those and we invite you to take a tour of.
Limited partnerships
First of all, new limited partnerships have been created recently. The concept is not dead, but rather little used, like the suspensions. In 2023, a Simple Limited Partnership was created in Rio Grande do Sul. But let's take a broader comparison: two years ago, in April 2021, there were 69 limited partnerships by shares and 45 simple limited partnerships. Therefore, in two years, there was an increase of two limited partnerships by shares and five simple limited partnerships. There is still momentum.
The numbers, however, can be explored in another way. First of all, there are 42% more limited partnerships than contractual limited partnerships (71 versus 50); and in this there is an inversion in relation to the universality of registered partnerships: more than 90% are contractual (limited partnerships): more than six million, as reported above.
There are frightening conceptual distortions
