9 projects approved at a cost of Tk 3,880 crore

Nine projects have been approved in the meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC). The total cost of these projects will be Tk 3,883.5 crore. The projects were approved in the ECNEC meeting chaired by ECNEC Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the NEC conference room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar today (Tuesday). Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal briefed journalists about the projects after the ECNEC meeting.
The Planning Minister said that 13 new projects have been approved in today's meeting. The total cost of this will be 3,883.5 million taka. Of this, 2,339.88 million taka will be financed by the government, 505.4 million taka will be spent on the organization's own financing and 697.93 million taka will be project aid. Also present at the meeting were c level contact list Planning Secretary Ziaul Islam, General Economics Department member Dr. Shamsul Alam and others.
The Planning Minister said that the project of 'Installation of 850,000 smart pre-payment meters in the areas under the jurisdiction of DPDC' of the Power Department has been approved. The total cost of this will be Tk 657 crore 95 lakh. Of this, Tk 607 crore 41 lakh will be financed by the government. And Tk 500 crore 54 lakh will be spent from the organization's own financing.
In addition, the meeting took up a project to improve the living standards of marginalized groups. The total cost of this project has been estimated at 826 crore 12 lakh taka. Of this, government funding will be 128 crore 19 lakh taka. And project assistance will come at 697 crore 93 lakh taka.
Other projects approved by the ECNEC are: 'Nabibagar-Ashuganj-Road Development' of the Road Transport and Highways Department at a cost of Tk 421.45 crore, 'Bhaluka-Gafargaon-Hosenpur Road Upgrading to Proper Standard and Width' at a cost of Tk 218.58 crore, 'Tangail-Delduar-District Highway (Z-4015), Kartia (Bhatkura)-Basail District Highway (Z-4015) and 'Delduar-Elsin (Z-4007) section of Pakulla-Delduar-Elsin District Highway' at a cost of Tk 140.98 crore.
Apart from this, the 'Gaibandha-Gobindaganj via Nakaihat District Highway (Z-5554) project to improve its quality and width' at a cost of Tk 997.3 million, the 'Establishment of Integrated Education Information Management System' project at a cost of Tk 313.31 million, the 'Increase in the capacity of the Bangladesh Police Data Center' at a cost of Tk 154.77 million, and the 'Development of the connecting road to the Mahananda Bridge under Chapainawabganj Municipality' project at a cost of Tk 255.46 million.
