LogoSASEarly 2012, Seats and Sofas Nederland suddenly made positive headlines. At least, that's how it seemed. list to data They were the fastest climber in the list of Dutch Facebook pages with the most likes. And that while the page had only just been started. A fine piece of work? No, it soon became apparent that the interaction on the page was pitifully low, which led to a critical look at the origin of the 112,000 likes. These came mainly from Russia and Asia. It makes sense that there was no interaction on the Dutch messages.

Seats and Sofas became an example of how not to do it. There were many negative reactions which eventually resulted in the removal of the Facebook page. Apparently, at the time of writing, nothing has changed. If you search for the company in combination with the word 'Facebook', the first search results are the news about the closed page.

Not something to be proud of. Facebook expert Peter Minkjan of Likeconomics sees more of these kinds of examples: “I think and know for sure that fans are bought on a large scale. I have enormous doubts about the authenticity of the fans on several Facebook pages”. FacebookFansIndiaThe doubts are only fueled by suspicious pages. “Because what does an Amsterdam company focused on the Netherlands need with a majority of fans from Hyderabad, India aged 13 to 17?” Minkjan continues. “The only advantage of so many fans is that you can brag that you have a lot of fans, but that is worthless if they are fake. That is especially disastrous for your EdgeRank”.
