On Twitter, anyone can shout whatever they want . The makers are now launching Branch: where you start a dialogue and invite people to it. The rest can watch, but must keep their mouths shut. How does it work and what can you do with it professionally?
Everyone can watch
Today we tested Branch with our team . Branch is a new startup that the founders of Twitter are behind. list to data In an interview they say the following about it:
“What Branch does is allow people to host dinner-party-like conversations and say, 'Pretty much everybody can watch, but we're limiting who's actually invited to sit down at the table.'”
All content on Branch is completely open. So you only have to have discussions that everyone can see. There is the possibility to start a group in which you invite people. All discussions that you start within that group are automatically available to the members of the group.
Start a branch: tweet, video or Spotify music
The main functionality of Branch is to start a discussion. Someone starts a Branch and invites people to discuss the statement. As a Branch you can use a tweet or embed a video. You can even hang music from Spotify in it. Then the 'thread', as we know it, can be discussed. A post can have 750 characters instead of the 'only' maximum of 140 characters that Twitter asks for.

An interesting feature is that you can highlight a piece of text from someone and then start a new branch (discussion) about it. I think that's where the name comes from: a discussion that has many 'branches'.
