We unite to change the ending of the story

Post by Bappy10 »

Consumers always get their way. They start a petition to change the ending of a game, or realize their own customer need through crowdfunding. It happened to gaming giant EA with Mass Effect 3. Now Kickstarter.com cleverly plays into the new credo of buyers: if you can't beat them, screw them.

Alternative ending
Of course it was coming. Because who doesn't know the feeling? You're done with the movie, sitting on list to data the couch and staring into space, alienated. That wasn't the ending you wanted. The hero dies and the romance bleeds to death. Annoying, and these days we don't put up with that.
Last year, this happened with the EA game Mass Effect 3. A gem of a science fiction game that is not inferior to an episode from the Star Wars saga or Avatar. High production value , famous voice actors and rave reviews. Only the ending. No, nobody liked that. Too vague and not based on decisions made earlier in the game.

Flood of criticism
After the first gamers finished the game, posts quickly appeared on forums and communities. What followed was a flood of criticism and in protest, a fundraising campaign was started for the charity Child's Play. This playful campaign raised a fair amount of money. But, as it turned out later, many participants expected this capital to go to the production of an alternative ending for Mass Effect. At the request of Child's Play, the campaign was stopped. EA had woken up by then.
