What makes the content network 'social'?
Presentations are on SlideShare to be found, to be available to everyone, to be liked (Facebook) and shared via email, 'Favorite', 'Save' (download), and 'Embed' (which I will get to next):

Next to a presentation are social bookmark links: you can refer to an interesting presentation with one click and list to data include that reference in a Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, or GooglePlus status update. Also 'Pin it' (for Pinterest) can be an interesting option, with its focus on images, to 'pin' a presentation: the first slide becomes the pinned image in Pinterest.

Interaction: comments
You can post comments (including replies to comments using the reply button) based on the presentation (sometimes you'll even see comments on individual slides):

On the profile bar you will find information about the author, links to his or her other social networks and the option to follow him or her.

As with any YouTube video, related relevant presentations are always suggested. Under 'More' you will find more presentations by the same author.
Favorites
Just like with YouTube videos, you can mark presentations by others as 'favorites', this function is twofold: it is useful for yourself as a bookmark function, to possibly watch later. In addition, you can see on the homepage of an author what he or she has marked as a favorite, who knows that will put you on the right track to even more great things.
Connect and integrate
There are plenty of opportunities to direct the attention of Twitter followers, Facebook and LinkedIn friends and acquaintances to a SlideShare presentation. But the connectivity between different social networks now goes even further. A SlideShare presentation can, in addition to being connected via a link in a tweet for example, also be integrated into that same tweet.
