We dive back in time, but also look ahead

Post by Bappy10 »

“Every once in a while a revolutionary product comes along that changes everything.” That’s how Steve Jobs started just before he announced the iPhone. And it’s these revolutionary products that are forcing companies to move faster than ever. In this article I’ll briefly describe the innovations in media and mobile that we’ve encountered in the past decades.
We see how companies respond to a rapidly changing market, but we also look at those companies that do not know how to deal with it well.

No innovators, no early adopters
When new media enters, there is always a group of innovators. A group that is at the forefront of the list to data market when it comes to adopting and trying out innovations. Not because they know that the masses will also start working with this later, but precisely because this group has an extraordinary interest in everything that has to do with innovation.

A group that is not led by the masses, but has a role in getting this mass moving. Without innovators, there will be no early adopters and no majority, who ensure that the innovation becomes mainstream. The trend of this adoption curve is nicely shown in the Diffusion of innovations theory .

Mobile calling in the future
We all know the long line of people at the introduction of the new iPhone. These are the people who seem crazy at first, and perhaps still do at second glance. But these are also the people who are on the eve of major changes in the media landscape. The late majority thinks very differently about this at the introduction, especially when it comes to mobile calling in the future.
