 Again, I leave the suspense hanging, but Diego kicks the flashlight out of the way before I can pick it up for emphasis, and I stifle a groan as it rolls under the chair. Feigning indifference, I conclude.

"  It's just that I can't tell if the machines are rebelling against me or if they're just too ashamed of Terminator Genisys to let anyone talk about it. "

It all begins as Kyle Reese's voiceover recaps how our world has descended into chaos. In 1997, an artificial intelligence named Skynet was put online to manage the entire North American defense system, including nuclear fax lists weapons. Using all the power of its latest-generation Pentium II 233 processor, it decides that humanity actually represents a threat to it. So, it decides to start a nuclear war, and hey presto, 3 billion deaths, which is not very cool. While Skynet takes control of the factories to create an army of robots (still with 1997 technology, so I imagine based on the assembly of Tam-Tam and other Tatoo) and enslave the survivors, only a handful of humans manage to remain free. They form the Resistance, led by John Connor, a leader whose charisma is relatively close to that of a corrugated iron sheet.

But Kyle Reese, then? Well, Kyle Reese explains that he never knew the world before the Last Judgment unleashed by Skynet. He only knows it from the stories his parents told. He's ignorant of everything his world, razed in 1997, never knew: France, the world champion of soccer, George W. Bush, Justin Bieber, and of course, this blog. A wasted life, in other words.

So we find young Kyle, still a child, living in the ruins of what human civilization once was. Or is it Versailles on a contemporary art exhibition day, I'm not sure. The fact remains that he narrowly avoids getting his face re-shuffled with a laser cannon by a Skynet killer robot: a Terminator. Except that just as his head is about to turn into a bloody geyser, something falls from the ceiling! An old piece of metal? No, it's John Connor! Who beats up the nasty Terminator, and saves little Kyle, before taking him with him.
