Last Friday, October 20, the seventh edition of the Entrepreneurs Awards was held at the Conde Duque Center (Madrid).
The competition, promoted by the city council, provides support and visibility to women who want to create their own business and need a boost.
This year is the first in which the winners receive a cash prize of 10,000 in the business category and 6,000 in the idea category, as well as interviews and viewing by the collaborating magazines and centers: Yo Donna, Womenalia, Centro Universitario Villanueva, and ASEME.
More than 200 projects were presented, of which the 10 finalists have had the opportunity to present their idea on stage.
The very different projects ranged from apps to combat bullying, online applications and businesses for clothing brands, family vacations, sports booking, or a search engine for the 5 best offers, coworking kitchens, a glove to protect prostheses, vertical garden platforms for offices, tests for treating transplant rejection, and Big Data interpretation systems.
Winners
Of all of them, the winners were Marina Rincón with Silma (the medical silicone glove for prosthetics) and Skansense, by Cristina Porcel (a software based on the use of algorithms to locate objects in images in real time). Brave Up by Paula Bañuelos (an application for mobile phones and computers that improves communication between the school and the school community) and Isabel Portero and the company Biohope (a research company dedicated to the development of biomedical solutions) have also received a second prize valued at 1,000 euros.

Sisters Carlota and Mariana Gramunt , inventors of the sustainable clothing brand Sidikai , highlighted how the most important thing for them was to have found suppliers of fabrics made without chemicals or inorganic waste, and how their production respected the environment from start to finish.

Paula Bañuelos , creator of Brave Up , told us how much she was involved in the adaptation of the App that had already been successfully implemented in other countries and which highlights the continuous monitoring of children with the help of professionals and the strong involvement of parents and teachers.

The 2017 Entrepreneur Awards are the perfect example of women's desire and ability to make a name for themselves in the market with innovative ideas, passion, work and sometimes obsession.
