It is 5pm… we are in the Sala dei Notari in Perugia… Italy.. Magnificent city born some 300 years BC, which hosts the International Journalism Festival for the 13th time. Five days of conferences and debates fueled by illustrious speakers from all over the world.
5pm so... the room is full. The spectators have invaded all the possible peru mobile database seats and benches to attend the session. The hubbub of heated discussions on journalism, as usual!
5.05 p.m.…Nothing. . Or rather a few technicians who are busy making everything more perfect than it was 5 minutes ago… but it’s already perfect.
At the #IFJ the conferences start on time..
But now... it's 5.10 p.m.... will the conference take place? The excitement rises from a small corridor that leads to the room. The discussions in the room die down. Two women come out of the corridor, filmed, photographed. Maria Ressa arrives on stage to applause... She's there... it's almost a miracle. This Filipino journalist has barely gotten off the plane she tried to take twice before managing to fly to Perugia... while passing through prison in her country taken away in a vehicle by seven police officers. Some influential people were looking for a reason to prevent her from leaving.
