This showcase highlighted the dynamism of Franco-Taiwanese XR cooperation and the growing weight of TAICCA in the financing of international VR works, and to reflect on possible synergies between the French and Taiwanese XR ecosystems following the announcements by Epic and Meta. What are the prospects for Franco-Taiwanese cooperation on the metaverse? Whether in terms of industrial cooperation or content creation, many rapprochements are already underway. In terms of industrial cooperation, the President of HTC and the President of ACER were invited to the 5th attractiveness summit, "Choose France".

Several projects are underway (creation of a broadcasting student database platform by Lucid Realities with funding of €270K from the Taiwanese Ministry of Economy; collaboration between Huang Hsin-Chien and composer Jean-Michel Jarre; "Notre Dame" project produced by Orange, the city of Paris and Emissive with the participation of HTC as a partner for the equipment). While it has bright prospects ahead of it, collaboration between France and Taiwan in the field of the metaverse also faces obstacles that go beyond the framework of bilateral cooperation.


On the one hand,The creation of this "embodied internet" will require a convergence of several technological blocks (in particular hardware innovations) that will take several years. On the other hand, the creation of norms and standards recognized by all is threatened by the dominant position taken by Meta, which announced on October 18 the creation of 10,000 jobs in the European Union to build its metaverse (which it is struggling to bring to fruition). And this, at a time when the European authorities are working on the "Digital Services Act" and the "Digital Markets Act" that will hit their activities hard.
