Digital transformation of the economy is reflected in information technology

The growth of the Bitkom industry continues to be largely determined by information technology. According to Bitkom's forecast, sales in this largest sub-market will increase by 3.2 percent to 93.6 billion euros in 2019. Software is growing the most strongly, with an increase of 6.3 percent to 26.0 billion euros. The market for IT services, including project business and IT consulting, is also growing above average, with an increase of 2.4 percent to 40.9 billion euros.

"IT services are in demand across all industries. Every company needs IT consulting and software solutions when it comes to offering new products and services and optimizing business processes," says Berg. In the IT hardware business, Bitkom expects sales to increase by 1.5 percent to 26.7 billion euros.

Telecommunications is growing in all segments
After difficult years, telecommunications have been on a growth path again since asia gambling data 2018 (+2.1 percent). An increase of 1.8 percent to 68.2 billion euros is expected in 2019. While sales of telecommunications devices, especially smartphones, increased sharply by 9.7 percent to 12.5 billion euros, investments in telecommunications infrastructure grew by 1.9 percent to 7.1 billion euros.

There are no changes in the telecommunications services business. It remains stable with a total turnover of 48.6 billion euros. Berg: "After the auction of the 5G frequencies comes the network expansion." The network operators will invest heavily in upgrading the mobile networks and making them more closely interwoven.

Berg: "This is not an easy situation for the network operators. They spent more than 6.5 billion euros to auction the new frequencies. Now they have to invest billions to expand the networks." Contrary to what was initially announced, the federal government does not want to use the frequency revenues for broadband expansion in sparsely populated regions.

The 6.5 billion euros could have been used to build 32,000 new radio masts. Berg believes it is all the more important that the federal and state governments streamline the framework conditions for network expansion so that bureaucratic hurdles do not make it difficult for companies to expand their networks.
