Besides being an integral part of the star-studded Vype Studio team, Yoan Kolev is also a former Olympic competitor and Balkan champion in the RS:X racing windsurfing class. He began his professional sports career when he was ten years old and quickly rose to the prestigious fifth place among the best young surfers in Europe.

Yoan has a bachelor's degree in sailing (specialization "coach") from the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski" and is one of the co-founders of Akasha Surf School .

Ioan entered the top ten of the World Championships in 2010, winning his first Balkan title that same year. In 2011, he ranked third among the best young surfers in the world, and in 2012, he participated in the Summer Olympics in London , where he finished 26th, proving once again that he is truly one of the best surfers in the world.
