In the wake of the recent controversy surrounding Facebook Trending Topics, email database lists australia there has been a lot of talk about algorithms in the first half of 2016 and how they can influence the consumption of online news content. The Report also analyzed this aspect, finding that 36% of users in 26 countries say they are satisfied if the selection of news offered to them is made based on their previous preferences. Perhaps surprisingly, despite the many indicators showing different results, video in online journalism does not yet seem to carve out a significant space, again according to the results of the Report: only 26% of participants (globally) say they consume online news in visual format. For 41%, however, text news would be even easier and more convenient to consume, 35% say that pre-roll advertising is still too annoying.
Wearable technology, which was included in the Report for the first time, still does not seem to have an important role in the information present: only 1% of the users interviewed use a smartwatch to get information, both in Europe and in the USA.
