Fall in the past: practice irregular verbs

Post by bitheerani319 »

Irregular verbs take time and dedication, because you have to learn them by heart. Although it's not a lot of information, it can be difficult to learn lists without context, so the most practical way to learn them is by using them. Each irregular verb has a past form and a participle, nothing more. You have to know when to use each form and how to write it, since sometimes they vary a lot, but other times not so much. For example, fall in the past tense is fell , and the participle is fallen . Today we bring you a short list accompanied by some exercises to practice irregular verbs in the past tense .

List of verbs
As you have seen in the previous example of fall in the past, the colombia phone number list is usually placed, then the past and then the participle. Look at this list of verbs:

Be (ser/estar) — was — been
Catch up — caught up — caught up
Fall over — fell over — fallen over
Get up — got up — got up
Have (tener) — had — had
Hit (hit) — hit — hit
Hurt (hurt) — hurt — hurt
Run (run) — ran — run
See (ver) — saw — seen
Think — thought — thought

As you can see, some of the verbs are phrasal verbs , but don't worry: they are only there to make the following exercise easier, they work the same as when the verb is alone.

Do you already know all the verbs on this list? If you are still missing any, memorize them before continuing. Next, we are going to do a very simple exercise to change sentences into the past simple tense .

Exercise: narration in the past
Below you have a very short narrative separated into several lines (this is just to make the exercise easier, you can put them one after the other if you want to form the story). The text is in the present tense, and contains several verbs, both regular and irregular.

Read the sentences and change them to the simple past tense. Remember, the verbs that are not in the list above are regular, that is, they form the past tense by adding -ed. Also keep in mind that verbs that are in non-personal forms (such as the infinitive and the gerund or -ing) do not need to be modified. You have the solutions at the end. Go for it!
