#3: Add Unreasonable Creative Limitations

Post by shaownhasane »

Although paradoxical, the third step is to add two unreasonable japan b2b leads creative constraints to stimulate outside-the-box thinking and competitive breakthrough ideas. Andrew recommends incorporating two types of creative constraints:

Unreasonable deadlines: Aggressive, bold deadlines inspire a sense of urgency and prompt people to act quickly, rather than overanalyzing, like getting bogged down in figuring out how to make the best thread. Making the timeline seem impossible forces you to develop streamlined, fast solutions using existing resources rather than getting sidetracked by the pursuit of perfection.

Let’s go back to the example of launching a podcast to drive course enrollments. The deadline to get three freshmen in three episodes was unreasonable since I had never produced a podcast before, but it was a specific deadline.

Other Creative Challenges: The second key element is to add at least one other creative stimulating challenge. Other constraints to consider include budget, staffing, platform, tool or method limitations. Eliminating familiar crutches can inspire new approaches by removing preconceived notions of what's possible.

When launching a podcast, it can be overwhelming with all the equipment and editing software available. But if you say you have to make your first episode in a week using only your phone, that's a way to inspire creativity within the constraints. Suddenly, you start finding solutions with what you have on hand instead of getting bogged down in researching microphones.
