I want a bigger photo

Post by Bappy10 »

Wow! That was the first thing I thought when I watched the livestream last night in which Facebook announced the changes to its news feed. Facebook has listened well to the criticism of the last few months and with these innovations is putting the user back in the center. Goodbye chaos. Hello clear, beautiful reports.

Facebook, I want my friends back
Criticism of Facebook has increased significantly in recent months. Users complained that Facebook list to data had become confusing and that they could no longer quickly find the information they were looking for. Many users also found it annoying that they missed their friends' updates and were shown far too many updates (read: advertisements) from companies. And that is painful for a site that is built on the principle of social discovery.

Facebook has listened well to this criticism from users and hopes to make up for a lot of this negative criticism with this update of the newsfeed – news overview in correct Dutch. Facebook's own goal was to make it less about Facebook and more about the messages that users share with each other. Back to the roots of Facebook. I think they have succeeded quite well in that. I will list the most important changes.

What immediately stands out when we look at the renewed news feed is that everything has become much more visual. Photo(albums), music, articles, friends, locations: everything has had a visual makeover and has become much more prominent in the news feed. You can also see much more information about these objects without actually clicking on them. The quality of photos and images, which has long been a point of irritation for many users, will also increase with this update to the news feed.
