Increasing productivity with a social collaboration platform

Post by Bappy10 »

After the rapid rise of social media, a new social development has been underway for a number of years, focusing on organisations and companies. This development is often referred to as 'social enterprise' and stands for 'the social organisation that uses digital communication options to connect employees with each other'.
A recent interesting report from McKinsey found that 30% of the time employees spend on email could be reduced by list to data having communications take place on a social collaboration platform. That could mean a 25-30% increase in productivity.

The terror of email
Although e-mail is a familiar means of communication, many will recognize themselves in the 'terror' of e-mail. This is not only about the number of (answered or unanswered) e-mails but also the reach: communication via e-mail is one-way traffic; it is more like sending a letter, of which you are not sure whether it will be delivered or read, than a conversation. Via e-mail it is not possible to work together in groups in real time and independent of time and place. An online collaboration platform does offer these possibilities.

Ryan Holmes (CEO, HootSuite ) put it simply but effectively in his article , advising: “Turn e-mail into a conversation.”

Major companies have gone before you
The realization that the use of social media also offers great opportunities for the internal organization has been recognized for several years. However, it has not gone as fast as expected and the focus has mainly been on the use of the well-known, public social networks.
