During this time, I was keeping an eye on two things: search traffic and indexed pages. Despite resubmitting my sitemap and manually fetching pages in search console, many pages were still not indexed — even core landing pages. This would become a theme throughout this timeline.
Taking into account our remaining unindexed pages, our traffic is still terrible.
Two weeks after the incident, our revenue was still down 8%, and our conversion rate to revenue was down along with our traffic although our conversion rate was up.
August 22, 2019 3 weeks : Traffic dropped 13%
Our pages were still indexing slowly, and the pain continued as I watched revenue targets fall below baseline.
At least it's clear that our search is recovering. But what I'm particularly interested in is how it's recovering.
Are all pages re-indexed, but will there be a decrease in searches?
Is it possible to reindex only some of the pages and fully restore search?
To answer this question, I looked at pages that new zealand mobile database were individually de-indexed and re-indexed. Here is an example from one of those pages:
Here is an example of a page being de-indexed in a shorter time:
In every instance I could find, every page was restored exactly to its original search position. So it doesn't seem to be a question of if the page will be restored, but rather a question of when the page will be re-indexed.
Speaking of which, there is a new feature in search console that will "validate" error pages. I started this process on August 26th. Since then, SC has slowly I think been crawling these pages back, about 10 pages per week. Is this faster than a normal crawl rate? Do these tools in SC do anything?
I’m sure there are still many pages that have been deleted three weeks later, including business landing pages that I had counted on to drive traffic. More on that later.
