“When you want to apply for a job, you should know that the image you project is very important”

Sports psychologist Patricia Ramírez has just published her fifth book, 'Cuenta contigo' (Editorial Conecta), in which she gives us the keys to achieving all our goals, including those related to work, without depending on others. We spoke to her to find out why it is important for us to learn to look for solutions within ourselves and how we can start to be the true masters of our lives.

Why is it important to stop depending on others if we want to achieve our personal and professional goals?
I think that if we always depend on others, we rcs data lebanon doomed. In the end, we will always need that push from someone, motivation from another person or ideal circumstances to be able to take a step forward. I believe that teamwork is essential to achieve goals, but most things have to be our own decisions and analysis. Above all, because that helps us to take responsibility for them, since when we rely on others, we end up blaming them if things don't go well.

So is it bad to ask for help?
No, not at all. I think it is not bad to ask for help, in fact people have an altruistic and supportive gene that pushes us to lend a hand to others. But I think that before asking for help we have to try it on our own. For example, children get used to saying “Mom, I don’t know the answer to this” and parents go and solve it for them when, with that, we don’t teach them how to think. That is why I think we can ask for help, but only if we have made an initial plan before, we have made an effort, we have tried…

In the book you say that we all had an adventurous spirit as children, which drove us to do things on our own. When and why did we lose it?
We lose it in part because of overprotection. It is clear that parents want to take care of their children and give them a safe environment, but sometimes we go too far. It is not about creating an environment that puts them in danger, but about letting them think for themselves and earn things because today they have such a high level of well-being that everything appears at the first opportunity and for free. And I am not referring to the economic part, but to the fact that they open their mouths and make them think that they might get frustrated, that they might become demotivated, so that they do not bother... and I think that is where we are not educating them well.
