The business climate in the digital sector is currently showing strong improvement and has climbed to its highest level in two years. In March, the index for the current business situation rose by 4.5 points to 31.9 points. Business expectations for the next six months rose even more sharply - plus 11.0 to 21.2 points. The Bitkom-ifo digital index, which is calculated from the assessment of the business situation and business expectations, rose significantly by 7.8 to 26.5 points compared to the previous month. The digital index was last higher in May 2019.

Digital industry plans hiring and expects rising prices
The good economic situation is also accompanied by a growing demand for workers. Employment expectations rose significantly, by 4.5 points to 23.3 points. This means that the majority of companies intend to hire additional workers in the next three months. At the same time, many companies expect prices to rise in the coming quarter. The price index rose sharply by 8.0 points to 14.4 points compared to the previous month.
