Universities must prepare us to face the Gig Economy

Post by bitheerani319 »

Is today’s college education effective in enabling students to work independently in the Gig Economy ? Today’s graduates are joining a workforce where the Gig Economy (which includes consultants, freelance contractors , self-employed workers, on-demand workers), accounts for approximately 30-40% of the American workforce . In a very short time, this percentage will continue to increase not only in the US but globally.

In addition, these students must also cope with an rcs data south korea and labor market that favors alternative employment over full-time traditional jobs . A good example of this is Google, where the majority of the workforce is made up of freelancers and temporary workers.

Despite this transformation of the labor market, universities still fail to integrate the practice of the Gig Economy into their curricula . Instead, they continue to educate and prepare students to become employees who cover full-time jobs.

This results in students finishing their studies not really well prepared to succeed as freelancers.

What is the Gig Economy
Given all of the above, it follows that the Gig Economy is a free market system in which temporary jobs predominate. In addition, organizations hire independent workers for short-term commitments.
